How We Multiplied - Session 7

A STUDY OF ACTS

How We Multiplied - Session 7

A Study of Acts

In Group & Homework Scripture Reading - Acts 25-28

How to use this Bible Study

If you are in a group: Complete the sections that have a white background together. The sections with a peach background should be completed individually. Then come back together and talk about what you have written.

If you are doing a solo devotional: Read through and complete the journalling prompts as usual, and use the discussion questions as an additional journaling prompt.

Opening Prayer

Dear God,

We are so grateful for Your enduring Word. Please guide our discussion and be present in our questions. Guide us to the right answers as we seek to know you more. Thank you for this time in fellowship. May we leave this time full of peace and rest in You.

Amen

Homework Discussion

  • Ask one or two people to summarize the reading from the homework.

  • Why do you think the Holy Spirit repeatedly revealed there would be hardship in Jerusalem for Paul?

    • Acts 19:21, 20:22-23, 21:4, 21:11-14

  • Chapters 21 - 24 covers Paul’s persecution by the Jews living in Jerusalem. What part of this story stood out to you the most?

  • How long does Felix keep Paul in prison (Acts 24)?

  • What does Paul do during his time in prison under Felix (Acts 24:26)?

  • Below there is a family tree. Look over the family tree together. Pay special attention to the four people at the bottom, they are the main characters in the chapters we will read together.

  • There are a lot of questions in the discussion this week. Choose the questions you feel will benefit your group the most.

    ——

It is easy to spend your entire discussion time on the questions above. Make sure you leave 15 minutes towards the end of your meeting time to complete the reading below and additional discussion questions.

Read Aloud Together

Assign one person to read each of the following sections.

  • Acts 25:1 - 12

  • Acts 25:13 - 22

  • Acts 25:23 - 27

  • Acts 26:1-11

  • Acts 26:12-23

  • Acts 26:24 - 32

Discussion Questions

  • Where do you see God’s plan in action in this story?

  • How does King Agrippa II respond to Paul’s Gospel message?

  • What was the relationship between Felix, Drusilla, Berenice, and Agrippa the Second? How did that affect their actions during the hearing?

  • In Acts 26:1-23 we hear Paul tell his testimony story again (9, 22, 26). This is the third time in Acts we have heard his story of conversion. What can we learn from Paul’s example about sharing our own testimony?

Homework

Read Acts 27-28 in preparation for Session Eight. Below is a suggested reading schedule for two days a week. For your convenience, the text for the homework is in the PDF in the World English Bible Translation (WEB).

Continue highlighting the themes of this study, and noting the locations that the gospel has spread on your map.

Reminder: If sitting down with a printed Bible is not available to you in this season of life (or just this week), feel free to complete the reading using your preferred Bible app. There are also audio versions of the Bible that can be read to you. God is able to meet you wherever you are.

Reading Schedule

Two Day Reading Plan

  • Day 1 - Acts 27

  • Day 2 - Acts 28

  • Review your notes from the last eight weeks OR skim over the book of Acts to refresh your memory
