Big Feelings
About the Big Feelings Worksheet
I created this worksheet for a friend who wanted a tool to help her daughter work through her feelings. It is never to early to teach children how to bring big feelings to God. Because God is big enough to handle all of their feelings.
“Instead of worrying, pray.” (Phillipians 4:6-7).
This truth applies to everyone at every age. I believe that children are capable of learning this skill early. I hope that you will use this as a tool for the children in your life, and teach them the value of talking to God about their feelings.
Activity Introduction
The first time you do this activity, sit down with your child and walk them through each step. Feel free to use the script below to guide your conversation.
God tells us in the Bible that we can talk to Him about anything. I think we should talk to God about [ insert the situation your child is dealing with ]. Can you pray with me?
Dear God, thank you for always listening when we talk to you. I am having a problem / I’d like to celebrate something and would like to share it with you. Amen.
[Point to the faces at the top of the page] Which feeling are you feeling right now? Let’s color that one in.
Now draw/write what happened. While you are working, tell God about it.
Next we are going to think about what we wish was different. And ask God what He wants for you.
Now that we have talked to God, what do you think you should do? What do you think Jesus would want you to do? Circle one or more of the suggestions.
